GREEN FLAG

In 2008 we began working towards our first Green Flag for the school. In order to qualify for the flag we had to reduce the amount of waste we produce in the school by trying to reduce, re use, and recycle. We set up a Committee to supervise this work throughout the school. The committee comprised members of the School Staff, Parents and of course the children of the school. The committee, along with all of the children, came up with some excellent ideas to help us get our flag such as composting, shredding paper every day, and putting as much paper waste as possible into our recycling bags. As a result of their efforts we reduced the amount of rubbish we put out dramatically and we were delighted to be awarded our first Green Flag in May 2010.

We then moved on to working for our second Green Flag where the theme was Energy with the entire school community working together to reduce the amount of energy used in the school. You can see some photographs her of the committee measuring the water meter, of our day of action and of our visit to the local river Bride to see the pollution of the river. In May 2014 we received our third Green Flag after two years of hard work reducing the amount of water used in the school.
